LAGOS: The 18-storey building named “Ibom Tower” is expected to generate revenue for Lagos and Akwa Ibom States respectively.
“With Ibom Towers, both Akwa Ibom and Lagos are demonstrating how unity and vision can drive prosperity,” Governor Eno stated this at the groundbreaking ceremony in Lagos state.
Alongside the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo- Olu, who performed the groundbreaking Pastor Eno also noted that cooperation “marks a new era of economic innovation amid national economic downturn”.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Ekerete Udoh on social media post said he promised that the project will be completed in 24 months.
As a measure towards economic diversification Governor Eno, explained that the project was meant to generate income and create job opportunities for the States.
However, “Anytime leaders invest in forward-looking projects like this, there are challenges,” he said, but a leader must look into the future.”
He highlighted the essence of bipartisanship saying, “it should not be coloured by political affiliations.”
Located in the heart of Victoria Island, Ibom Towers will serve as an iconic structure aimed at boosting investments and economic ties, directly benefiting Lagos and Akwa Ibom.
Again, he praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for reforming Lagos state during his period, adding that those changes may be painstaking, but they will bear fruit.
Meanwhile, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted Lagos’ longstanding role as Nigeria’s centre for commerce.
For instance, he remarked, “I look forward to seeing this relationship deepen,” Sanwo-Olu added “who knows, maybe I’ll also invest in an oil well in Akwa Ibom.”
Truth Live News gathered that Leaders from both states including the Managing Director of the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP),Imo-Abasi Jacob, Oba of Oniru, Oba Abdulwasiu Lawal, His Eminence, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, President General, Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, Former Governors, Obong Victor Attah, Udom Emmanuel and Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah attended the flagged off.
In their separate goodwill messages, they expressed satisfaction in the project, assuring their support and seeing it as a legacy of Lagos-Akwa Ibom cooperation.
“This project represents the fulfillment of long-held aspirations for our states’ prosperity,” they said.
