Lucky Obukohwo ReportingÂ
A report of missing logo of Labour Party (LP) in Unit 1, in Eguare Primary school voting Centre in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, has triggered anxiety among the voters on Saturday March 18, 2023 state house of Assembly polls in the state.
It was gathered that while the logo of the various political parties fielding candidates in the Saturday’s state House of Assembly polls in the state were provided on the result sheet by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), LP’s own was missing.
It was learnt that agents of the party in collaboration with INEC officials at the voting centre have agreed to correct error manually with a pen, ahead of the final collation of results.
But, there were concerns that the document might be declared invalid, ahead of the official pronouncement of the electoral empire.
Recall that similar glitches were recorded in some polling Units during February 25th presidential and National Assembly elections.
INEC in response to the criticisms in some parts of the State, promised to correct the anomaly, ahead of today (Saturday’s) election, which was shifted by one week by the Commission.
Voting materials arrived early and the number of voters increased, while the BVAS machines are functioning properly in most areas visited by our reporters.
Truth Live News reports that there was also security presence and stop and search security personnel at major routes across the three Senatorial districts in Edo State unlike the previous elections.
There was voter apathy in most of the voting centres across the State, amid expectation that the situation would improve before the end of the voting exercise.
