Anambra Police Command Rescues Kidnapped US Embassy Staff

The Anambra State Police Command has rescued two staffs of the United States Embassy who were kidnapped on Tuesday in Ogbaru Local Government Area in Anambra.

 

The two staffs were among those that were attacked in their vehicle on Tuesday, who were on a humanitarian mission in the State.

 

The attack killed two embassy staff, including four policemen and a driver, making seven persons. Some of those killed were burnt in their vehicles, while the hoodlums took two staff of the embassy hostage.

 

The rescue was confirmed in a press release on Friday morning by the Spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga.

 

He said, ” In the early hours of today, 19/5/2023, the joint security forces rescued unhurt the two remaining victims abducted during the attack on a US convoy attack along Atani/Osomalla road in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.”

 

There was no information given on where and how they were rescued and also on their health status.

 

He stated that the Anambra State Police imagemaker, tactical operations are still ongoing and further details shall be communicated.

 

Meanwhile the US Government, Nigeria Government and the Anambra State Government had condemned the attack.
