As the nationwide protest against economic hardship begins across various states in Nigeria, some states are witnessing less participation than others.

In Anambra, life continues as usual with residents going about their daily activities. Businesses remain open, and there is a normal flow of traffic, mirroring a typical day.

The peaceful atmosphere in Anambra stands in stark contrast to the tension and unrest seen in other states such as Yobe, Borno, Kaduna, Gombe, and Abuja, where protests have escalated into confrontations with the police. Tear gas has been used to disperse protesters in these areas, leading to chaotic scenes.

One notable incident occurred in Kano, where an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre scheduled for commissioning next week was raided and set ablaze by protesters.

The centre, part of the government’s initiative to support technological talent development, suffered extensive damage with youths seen looting computers, chairs, and other equipment.
