The House of Representatives member, representing the good people of Abi/Yakurr federal Constituency of Cross River Central Senatorial District, South South Nigeria Dr Alex Egbona has distributed items worth millions of naira to his constituents.
The 2023 mega empowerment which took place at the lawmaker’s country home on Sunday featured distribution of fish farming equipment among others.
Via his official Facebook page Dr Egbona said It has become an annual practice for him to gather his people in this fashion, to put smiles on their faces.
The lawmaker on his Facebook page wrote that he did not only stop at gifting items to the constituents but had also sponsored motions and bills, including the bill for an Act for the establishment of the Nigerian Maritime Corps, which is meant to promote maritime security in Nigeria’s waterways.
In parts Dr. Egbona wrote: “It has become an annual practice for me to gather our people in this fashion, to put smiles on their faces as we celebrate the Christmas season and also prepare for the New Year with fresh and renewed hopes.”
“Today, the empowerment project is taking a different shape.
“I will not only distribute empowerment items such as motorcycles, sewing machines, cassava grinding machines and other types of grinding machines, water pumping machines, spraying machines, wheel barrows, mats and modern school desks for our school children, I will equally distribute fish farming equipment to those who took part in our recent training programme on fish farming.”
“My plans for this constituency actually suffered a bit of setback because after the February election, I was faced with litigations that only ended a few weeks ago. Now, we are air-borne and there is no stopping us.”
“Already, you must have heard that some of our communities have started getting solar powered street lights as well as transformers.”
“You must have heard that I have sponsored motions and bills, including the bill for and Act for the establishment of the Nigerian Maritime Corps, which is meant to promote maritime security in Nigeria’s waterways.”
While assuring them he said. “Many other good things are already coming, just a few weeks into my second term.”
“Let me therefore inform you that training and academic activities will soon begin at the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology, Ekureku centre.”
“The federal government has already appointed one of our sons, Mr Bernard Egwu Igiri as centre manager and he is to resume work immediately.”
“At the centre, our people will be trained on leather works. Leather materials such as bags, belts etc, will be produced here. I started pursuing this during my first term and today, the centre is here for our benefit,” he added.
“As the Almighty God keeps us alive, you will see what your eyes have not seen in this constituency before. I will empower more people.”
“I will attract more projects to the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency. More of our people will be recommended and assisted to gain employments.”
“I am working with our state government and with the federal government controlled by our party, the APC, to attract development to our land.”
“All I will ask of you is one thing: let there be peace in all parts of this constituency. Pray for and continue to support our state governor, Senator Bassey Otu.”
“Pray for and continue to support our president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They mean well for our state and for our country.”
