Another senator of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Bulkachuwa, has backed plans to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari over the worsening security situation in the country.

This comes a few days after a similar APC lawmaker from Adamawa State, Elisha Abbo, faulted the President’s handling of the nation’s security challenges.

He publicly endorsed the impeachment moves being driven by the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members in the Senate.

Bulkachuwa who was a guest on Channels Television’s programme Politics Today and monitored by our correspiondent said he and his colleagues had tried in many ways to help the President tackle insecurity in the country but it has been unsuccessful

Bulkachuwa who represents Bauchi North in the National Assembly said the lawmakers also tried to engage service chiefs and other security personnel “to find out what their problems is and how to find possible solutions.

PDP senators had on July 27 staged a walkout after Senate President, Ahmad Lawan prevented Senator Philip Aduda from discussing the rising insecurity.

The lawmakers agreed that President Buhari should be given six weeks to fix insecurity or face impeachment proceedings.

Reacting, Bulkachuwa said the threat by opposition senators to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari is the last and necessary option left for the lawmakers.

When asked if APC senators were among those that clamored for the impeachment, the lawmaker replied in the affirmative.
