The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the recently estranged Team New Nigeria (TNN) of flooding Kano metropolis with campaign posters of former President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2027 elections.
The posters, which surfaced on Thursday, December 5, have stirred political debate, hinting at a potential bid by Jonathan, though he remains silent on the matter.
TNN, a group that announced its departure from the APC days ago, claimed it aims to amass 26 million voters across Nigeria as part of its plan to establish a new political platform. The group’s National President, Modibbo Farakwai, emphasized its readiness to reshape the nation’s political structure.
However, APC Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, dismissed TNN’s activities as inconsequential, describing the group as “amorphous” and disconnected from the ruling party. “If they were genuine members of the APC, it would have been clear to them that former President Goodluck Jonathan is not a member of our party,” Duru remarked.
The APC further criticized TNN for aligning with a non-member, asserting that this only confirmed the group’s ideological disconnect. “Their actions validate our suspicions about their detachment from the APC’s structure and principles,” the party added.
Meanwhile, the former president’s silence on the issue has left Nigerians speculating about his possible return to active politics. Whether Jonathan is genuinely connected to the TNN’s activities or merely an emblem of their campaign remains uncertain, fueling intrigue in the lead-up to 2027.
