Former representative of the Rivers South-East senatorial district, Senator Magnus Abe has denied writing any resignation letter which allegedly written by him to the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC to inform them that he had resigned from the party.
Senator Abe and former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, who have since been locked in a battle for supremacy in the party, announced through his verified Facebook account on Wednesday, that he did not write the letter which is being circulated around social media.
He however affirmed the speculation that he was about to leave the APC, noting that the APC in Rivers state is impotent and cannot win elections in the state, hence his need to exit the party.
“I didn’t author the purported resignation letter in circulation but everybody knows I had long left the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State. The party does not have what it takes to win elections in the state,” he stated on the Facebook post.
Abe leaving the APC is imminent because he has stated that he would contest for the Rivers State in 2023 even as he boycotted the Rivers APC Governorship primaries.
Meanwhile, several of his supporters in the party has dumped the party and joined other parties which makes it apparent that he will also leave soon and perhaps join the Social Democratic Party SDP where he would run as the governorship candidate of the party, according to an earlier report by Tribune.
