APC Suspends Campaign In Kogi Central Over Death Of Ohinoyi Of Ebiraland

Following the death the overall traditional ruler of the Kogi Central Senatorial District, Abdulrahman Ado-Ibrahim, the Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the cancellation of its earlier planned governorship election campaign in the area.

The Secretary of the APC Campaign Council,  Ozigi  Salami, disclosed this in a letter addressed to members of the Ododo/Oyibo Campaign Council on Sunday.

Truth Live News had reported that the Ohinoyi died on Sunday at the age of 94 after a brief illness.

Secretary to the Ebira Traditional Council, Yinusa Duke who broke the news of his demise said the late paramount ruler passed on in the early hours of Sunday.

Late Ado-Ibrahim was laid to rest at 2 pm today (Sunday) in line with Islamic rites.

APC’s letter reads: “This is to bring to the notice of all directorates, support groups and teeming supporters of the Ododo/Oyibo project and the general public that the Ododo/Oyibo Campaign Council has decided to suspend all political activities in Kogi Central Senatorial District to honour the demise of our revered king, Dr. Ado Ibrahim, who God Almighty has called to eternal rest.”

Abdulrahman Ado-Ibrahim was born on Feb. 7, 1929, and was the fourth traditional ruler and Ohinoyi of Ebiraland with headquarters in Okene, Kogi State.

He was a son of the second Attah (now “Ohinoyi”) of Ebiraland, Ibrahim Onoruoiza of the Omadivi Clan, who reigned from 1917–1954.

Ado-Ibrahim was enthroned as the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland in 1997 and reigned until Sunday 29 Oct. 2023 when he died.

Before ascending to the throne, Ado-Ibrahim was a successful businessman who lived most parts of his life in Lagos.
