A group with the name, Arewa for Justice Assembly, has condemned in strong term the continuous incarceration of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, leader, Bello Badejo, by the Nigerian military, saying action, a violation of his constitutional rights.
In a statement issued by its spokesman, Comrade Musa Garba Yola, the group accused the military, under the leadership of Chief of Defence Staff General Musa, of gross abuse of power.
According to the statement, Bello Badejo’s wife revealed during a recent press conference that he was already undergoing medical treatment when the military unlawfully seized him again.
The group described the military’s actions as a blatant defiance of constitutional provisions and a stain on the principles of justice and fairness that Nigeria claims to uphold. Detaining a citizen without charges or access to the courts, it argued, is a gross violation of the law and unacceptable in a democratic society.
The body, specifically rejected the military’s actions, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Bello Badejo.
“We also call for his urgent reunion with his family, who have endured unwarranted emotional and psychological distress.
“We support the family’s plea for the intervention of all relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure justice prevails.
“This matter is not just about Bello Badejo; it is about the principles of justice, fairness, and respect for the rule of law in Nigeria.
“We will not allow the rights of Northern Nigerians or any citizen to be trampled upon in this manner. Justice must prevail. Release Bello Badejo now.”
