Asue Ighodalo, who doubles as former chairman Sterling Bank PLC and also a leading PDP governorship aspirant, graced the LAWSA (UNIBEN Chapter) Annual Peter Mrakpor 100 Level Induction Dinner.
Delivering a keynote speech at the University of Benin’s ASUU Hall on February 2, 2024, Ighodalo focused on the vital role of education in Nigeria.

Reflecting on the inception of his law firm, Banwo and Ighodalo, in 1991, he detailed his journey from working as an Associate at Chris Ogunbanjo & Co after graduating from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, between 1985 and 1991.
The firm, now a leading entity in Capital Markets, Securities, Mergers, and Acquisitions, highlights Ighodalo’s expertise in Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, Energy, Natural Resources, Mergers, Acquisitions, Banking, Securitization, and Project Finance.
Ighodalo emphasized leveraging youth strength for employment creation, problem-solving, and building a better Edo State. He encouraged students to stay dedicated and creative in their studies.
The president of the Law Students’ Association Bolarinwa Ayantunji, praised Ighodalo as a strong leader, student advocate, and skilled manager with an established reputation for ethical conduct, competence, and integrity.
Asue Ighodalo was also proud to tell the students association that one of his close associates was a former president of the law students association in the University. The leading aspirant was adorned in a black tuxedo to match the dinner event and spent time relating with the young lawyers in the making. Mr Asue Ighodalo also received a huge reception from Non-Law students led by the Student Union Government (SUG) President, Alpha King Lemuel Osahon and members of the Council of faculty Governors/Presidents.
They led him on a personal tour of some landmarks around the school and Mr Ighodalo was seen to enjoy himself in the company of the students at the University of Benin while encouraging them to put integrity and foresighted dedication at the core of their respective academic and life journeys.
