The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is set to embark on a one-day nationwide protest rally over the implementation of a “no-work, no-pay” policy for lecturers in the country by the Federal Government.

Recall that the members of ASUU recently resumed work from the 8-month old strike which they embarked on in February and we’re not paid throughout the strike period. The strike action was resolved when representatives of FG promised that the backlog of their salary was going to be paid and other factors which led to the strike will be resolved in earnest. However, upon resumption, members of the union were paid half of the month’s salary and their backlog held unto by FG.

Reacting to the new development, Truth Live News gathered that ASUU is about to embark on a protest and it will be organised at the branch level of the union across public university campuses nationwide and it will be a free-lecture day for all lecturers who are members.

A special congress and protest rally within the campuses is to be held in every public university where ASUU exists, in any of the days within the week. The rally is to protest against the pro rata payment method.
