The Hope Waddell Old Students’ Association (HWOSA) has presented Medals and certificate awards of merits and participation in her maiden edition of HWOSA Marathon 2022, to the winners.
Okon Cyril finished first with the record time of 25 minutes 30 seconds in a 5 killometer Marathon Race, followed by Henry Ekpenyong with a record of 28 minutes 8 seconds while the second runner-up Philip Bassey finished with the record time of 34 minutes 9 seconds.
Earlier, the Marathon Race which featured medical check-up to ascertain health fitness of the participants was organized by the national executive of the HWOSA in preparation for the Carnival Calabar which usually holds every December.
Shortly after flagging off the race, the national president of HWOSA Nigeria, Barr. Efio-Ita Ephraim expressed optimism that the Marathon Race though it is her maiden edition will grow to become an international event.
“we are planting this seed believing that would grow to even becoming an international event. ” He said.
Among other dignitaries who grace the maiden edition of the Marathon 2022 was the National Social Secretary Esema Joseph Esema.
