Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President of Nigeria, has denied that his recent visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari was politically motivated or related to the 2027 general elections.

The visit, which included a delegation of prominent politicians such as Nasir El-Rufai and Aminu Tambuwal, former governors of Kaduna and Sokoto States, respectively, was solely to extend Sallah greetings to Buhari at his Daura residence.

Atiku explained that his delayed visit was due to prior commitments in Adamawa State, where he was representing the Lamido of Adamawa during the Sallah celebrations.

The former Vice President maintained that the meeting had nothing to do with potential opposition party coalitions or the 2027 elections, emphasizing it was a gesture of respect and goodwill during the Eid festivities.

Atiku’s visit has sparked interest among political observers, given the upcoming elections, but he insists it was a purely courtesy call.
