Atiku Abubakar, the esteemed former Vice President of Nigeria and Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in both the 2019 and 2023 elections, graciously extended his congratulations to Barrister Asue Ighodalo on his resounding victory in the recent gubernatorial primaries.
Through his official handle on X, as reliably monitored by Truth Live News, Atiku Abubakar expressed his satisfaction with the selection of a highly qualified technocrat like Asue Ighodalo as the PDP’s flagbearer in Edo State.
He said “The election of a thoroughbred technocrat by the PDP as the party’s candidate in Edo State signposts the urgency that the PDP gives to ensuring that the next governor of Edo State is a round peg in a round hole.”
He commended the PDP leadership and members in Edo State for orchestrating an exemplary primary election that has yielded a candidate of such caliber. He was quoted as saying “The party has made a choice, and it is not in dispute that the choice is a good one.”
Atiku Abubakar stressed the importance of unity within the party, urging all other aspirants and stakeholders to come together in reconciliation and negotiation to ensure that PDP’s stronghold in Edo State remains unshaken.
He spoke highly of Dr. Asue Ighodalo, noting not only his intellectual brilliance but also his admirable character as a gentleman. Atiku Abubakar expressed confidence in Dr. Ighodalo’s ability to lead Edo State with stability and inclusivity, rallying all supporters of the PDP to unite under the party’s banner for the greater good.
He asserted that “I believe that our candidate has what it takes to bring everyone willing to work for the interest of the PDP under the huge umbrella of our great party”.
