A palpable outrage has followed Atiku’s ‘disrespect’ of Akwa Ibom’s Top Monarch in Uyo, where he flagged off his presidential campaign on Monday.
Recall that Truthlive.net reported yesterday that Atiku flagged off his campaign rally in Uyo without the presence of some party bigwigs like Wike, Makinde, and others.
However, a photo seen by Truthlive.net in which Atiku extended his hand to shake the top monarch’s hand with his head unbowed has sparked widespread criticism on social media, with one social commentator, Jimoh Ibrahim, describing the act as disrespectful on his wall.
He was quoted as saying, “How could a highly-placed person like Atiku, who should know official etiquette and protocol, stretch out his hand to shake a traditional ruler in Akwa Ibom?
“Does he stretch out his hand to shake any emir?
“It is for a monarch to decide whether to shake your hand, not you stretching your hand first to shake a monarch.
“Atiku lacks respect.”
