Authorities in Nairobi seized a purported fake lawyer on Thursday, citing allegations that he had impersonated an advocate of the Kenyan High Court.
Before his arrest, reports state that the attorney argued 26 cases before magistrates, High Court judges, and Court of Appeal judges, all of which he prevailed in.
The Law Society of Kenya Nairobi Branch Rapid Action Team (RAT) detained him on suspicion of making false pretences.
After RAT received public complaints about his fraudulent conduct, he was sent into custody.
He does not have a licence to practise law in Kenya and is not an advocate, according to LSK data.
They added in a statement that the man was not a member of the LSK Nairobi Branch nor an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
“It has been brought to the attention of the LSK Nairobi Branch through the Rapid Action Team (RAT), that the pictured person has been presenting and conducting himself as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of LSK Nairobi Branch,” read the notice in part.
He is being held at the RAT headquarters pending further investigation.
At the same time, videos of him representing the former Mungiki leader in televised court proceedings have surfaced online.
