A pair of elephants, a mom and her baby, were dramatically saved after they both fell into a manhole in Thailand’s Nakhon Nayok province on Wednesday.
The incident began when the baby elephant fell into a slippery mud hole as it was travelling with a herd. Seeing the calf fail in its struggle to climb up, the mother elephant grew anxious and had to be sedated before wildlife authorities could proceed with the rescue operation, but as a result tumbled partially into the hole as well.
Fortunately both were saved after an all-out rescue effort and safely returned to the jungle.
