The PDP Board of Trustees, led by ex-Senate President Adolphus Wabara, will meet Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike today in Port Harcourt.
The Wabara-led BoT convened an emergency meeting to pacify Wike and some southern governors, Channels TV reported.
The BoT delegation also wants Wike and his allies to support Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential bid as campaigns for next February’s elections begin.
Wike and some PDP governors, including Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde, (Oyo), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), have pressured Iyorchia Ayu to step down for a southerner.
Wike and allies quit Atiku’s campaign council on September 20.
They were also absent from Atiku’s campaign council inauguration on September 28, 2022 because they believed northerners shouldn’t hold the top two positions in the party.
