Kachalla Dogo Isah, a notorious bandit leader, has been killed in a violent confrontation with a rival faction of repentant bandits in Kaduna State.
The clash occurred on January 7, 2025, in Kachia Forest, when Dogo Isah and his gang attempted to rustle cattle from a camp led by the repentant bandit leader, Kachalla Musa.
According to Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Dogo Isah and two of his gang members were killed during a gunfight with Kachalla Musa’s group.
Dogo Isah was infamous for his reign of terror in Kachia and parts of Kajuru local government areas, where he and his gang wreaked havoc on local communities.
Dogo Isah’s group was reportedly behind several high-profile attacks in the region, including the killing of members of the 305 Artillery Demo Regiment in Makaranta Forest, Kagarko LGA, and an officer of the disbanded Sect 4 OPWP near Gadan Mallam village along the Abuja-Kaduna Road in 2022.
In a more recent attack, Dogo Isah’s group ambushed Nigerian Navy personnel at a checkpoint in Kujama on January 5, 2025, and killed two Navy officers and stole their AK-47 rifles.
Kachalla Musa and his faction had recently agreed to a peace initiative from the government and security agencies in Kaduna State, following a meeting with local stakeholders in Tsohon Gaya village, Chikun LGA.
However, Dogo Isah refused to accept the offer and continued his criminal activities.
Dogo Isah’s death is seen as a major blow to insurgent activities in Kaduna, but it has also sparked concerns among the members of Kachalla Musa’s recently repentant group
