Big Brother Naija star girl Phyna has stated that she never adopted White Money’s (previous winner of the show) strategy or approach during her time in the house.
In an interview on Xm Base Sparks, the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ winner, Hazel Onoduenyi, also known as Whitemoney revealed Phyna said that she had to apply for the reality TV show five times before she was selected.
Whitemoney asked Phyna about claims that she had borrowed his catchphrase “Who dey” during her season, but she denied it. She explained that prior to when she was selected, she didn’t watch Big Brother Naija show and moreover, she didn’t enter the house during his season, so she couldn’t have copied him.
White Money asked; “I heard that you kind of used my script in the [Big Brother] House. There is a certain aspect of me that you inherited and used to spice up your own game. And it worked for you.”
Phyna replied;
“I have been auditioning for Big Brother for about five years. Four years before the fifth year last year [when I was selected]. Any year they don’t pick me, I don’t watch Big Brother. I don’t even want to know anything about it. I’m always jealous.
“So, when I was in the [Big Brother] House and I said, ‘Who deyyyy?….’ I was angry that day. It’s something I always say. It’s just part of me. So, I say that.
“And one day, one of the housemates was like, ‘Whitemoney used to say this ‘Who deyyy?’ in the House. You’re copying him.’
“I’m like, really? I didn’t know o because I didn’t watched [Big Brother Naija Season 6]. And she was like, no, you’re copying him. And I was like, anyways, as long as he win, you say I dey copy abi? Ehnn, make e still work for me.”
