Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has successfully completed his medical tests at Werder Bremen for an imminent loan move from Bayer Leverkusen, multiple sources confirmed on September 1, 2025.

The 24-year-old, who has been sidelined at Leverkusen amid injury concerns and a failed switch to AC Milan, arrived in Bremen earlier today for the crucial check-up.

Despite past knee issues that derailed his Serie A ambitions—stemming from two prior ACL tears—Werder’s medical team gave the green light, overlooking the risks that scared off the Italians.

The deal is structured as a one-year loan without a buy option, with Leverkusen set to cover a significant portion of Boniface’s €6 million annual salary, given his €40 million market value.

Bayer’s sporting director Simon Rolfes had earlier signaled openness to the departure, stating, “We would like to realize [a departure], if it suits all parties.”

Boniface, who netted 32 goals in 61 appearances for Leverkusen since 2023 but managed only eight in 19 Bundesliga games last season due to injuries, could have mot playing time at Bremen.

The Green-Whites are winless after three matches, including a 4-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt and an explosive 3-3 draw with Leverkusen.
