The boxing world is mourning the loss of heavyweight legend George Foreman, who passed away at the age of 76.
Foreman’s family announced his death on Friday night, leaving behind a legacy as a two-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist.
Mike Tyson was among the first to pay tribute, sharing pictures of himself with Foreman on social media.
“Condolences to George Foreman’s family. His contribution to boxing and beyond will never be forgotten,” Tyson said.
Other boxing legends and promoters also paid their respects.
Veteran promoter Bob Arum described Foreman as a “great friend” and said he was “absolutely devastated” by the news.
Former cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew wrote: “RIP to one of the greatest human beings to ever put on boxing gloves… This man was truly amazing! There is no doubt in my opinion that he’s the greatest puncher boxing has ever seen.”
Anthony Joshua also paid tribute, reposting Foreman’s family’s announcement on Instagram and writing “RIP Champ.”
