Bandits attacked President Muhammadu Buhari’s advance convoy deployed ahead of his Trip to Daura, Katsina state for Sallah Celebrations on Tuesday, July 5th.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, made available to Newsmen disclosed the attack was on the President’s convoy in Daura.
Reacting to the development, he hailed the Presidential Security Guards for successfully repelling the attack.
“The Presidency has described the incident as sad and unwelcoming, the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah.”
“The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police, and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.”
“Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered. All the other personnel, staff, and vehicles made it safely to Daura.”
Truthlive.net had reported earlier that armed bandits shot dead a gallant police officer, DCP Aminu Umar, Area Commandant, Dutsin-Ma Command, Katsina state, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari.
