A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an interim order stopping the Senate Ethics Committee from proceeding with its investigation into Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions.
This ruling effectively pauses the committee’s deliberations, which were set to convene and potentially impose an indefinite suspension on Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Recall that, on February 20, the kogi Central lawmaker clashed with Senate president, Godswill Akpabio, over seat allocation, as she rejected her assigned seat, defying Akpabio’s order and repeatedly raising a point of order despite being overruled.
The court’s decision, made by Justice Obiora Egwuatu, follows an ex parte application filed by Akpoti-Uduaghan’s counsel.
The interim order will remain in place pending further judicial review.
