The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Monday Okpebholo have suffered a major legal setback as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) finally bowed to pressure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and appeared before the Edo Governorship Election Petition Tribunal to submit BVAS machines used in the September 21 gubernatorial election.
Truth Live News confirmed that the BVAS data presented in court reportedly exposed massive over-voting across multiple polling units, a revelation that could significantly impact the tribunal’s final verdict. PDP witnesses presented evidence of irregularities, with discrepancies between the accredited voter count and the total votes recorded.
Some polling units in Ikpoba Okha, Akoko-Edo, and Owan West Local Government Areas were particularly highlighted as cases of over-voting and score miscalculations were identified
This latest development strengthens the PDP’s case, as their gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, continues to challenge the election results that declared Okpebholo the winner. Legal experts suggest that APC may find it difficult to dismiss such critical evidence at this stage of the proceedings.
With the tribunal now fully engaged in reviewing the BVAS records, the fate of Governor Okpebholo and the Edo APC hangs in the balance as the case progresses
