Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, a prominent figure vying for the APC gubernatorial ticket in Edo State, has decided to step back from the race following a devastating loss.
Truth Live News gathered that Agbonayinma, formerly a member of the House of Representatives, made this announcement after receiving tragic news of his son’s untimely death. The 23-year-old, Osazuwa Agbonayinma, fell victim to a fatal shooting incident in Houston, Texas, USA.
Agbonayinma, who had been actively engaged in preparations for the governorship bid, expressed gratitude for the immense support he garnered from various quarters. However, amidst the whirlwind of political aspirations, the heart-wrenching loss of his son has left him and his family shattered. He conveyed his inability to continue the campaign in light of the profound grief they are enduring.
Acknowledging the outpouring of support, both moral and financial, Agbonayinma stressed the importance of unity within the party. He urged his supporters to rally behind the eventual APC flagbearer emerging from the upcoming primary elections, emphasizing the significance of a fair and transparent process.
With Osagie Ize-iyamu and Agbonayinma’s withdrawal, the field narrows to ten contenders vying for the coveted APC ticket in the Edo State governorship race. Among them are notable figures such as They are Clem Agba, Monday Okpebholo, Lucky Imasuen, Anamero Dekeri, Gideon Ikhine, Col David Imuse (retd), Gen Charles Airhiavbere, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, Blessing Agbomhere, Dennis Idahosa and Ernest Umakhihe, each poised to navigate the competitive political landscape in Saturday’s primary election.
