The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to present witnesses in its defense during the ongoing Edo State governorship election tribunal hearing.
Truth Live News confirmed that the commission pleaded for an additionalday to prepare, prompting the tribunal to adjourn proceedings to Thursday.
Despite its inability to provide witnesses, INEC submitted key electoral documents, including Form EC8D, electoral guidelines, and certified true copies (CTCs) of the result sheet, all of which were accepted by the tribunal.
The commission had earlier submitted Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines following a subpoena obtained by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has alleged discrepancies in voter accreditation figures and final results
The tribunal’s review of BVAS data will play a crucial role in determining the validity of the election results. PDP’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, continues to challenge the victory of APC’s Governor Monday Okpebholo, citing claims of over-voting and result manipulation
