Awka, Anambra State
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has officially clinched the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ticket to contest for a second term in office. Soludo emerged unopposed in the party’s primary election held in Awka on Saturday, securing over 300 delegate votes in a unanimous show of confidence from party faithful.
The outcome solidifies Soludo’s position as APGA’s standard-bearer for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025. The governor’s endorsement was met with applause from party members and supporters, many of whom hailed his leadership style, policy direction, and developmental strides since taking office in March 2022.
Truth Live News learnt that the former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Soludo has steered the state through a challenging economic climate while prioritizing infrastructure renewal, education reform, and local revenue generation. His administration has also taken bold steps in urban regeneration and digital transformation—initiatives that have drawn both praise and scrutiny.
APGA’s decision to back Soludo comes as little surprise given the party’s stronghold on Anambra politics. Since former Governor Peter Obi’s landmark victory in 2006 under APGA, the party has maintained an unbroken grip on the state’s leadership, making it the dominant political force in the region.
With the party’s ticket secured and no internal contest, Soludo now turns his focus to a wider campaign, aiming to consolidate on his first-term achievements and extend his mandate by another four years.
Soludo’s unopposed emergence as APGA’s candidate reaffirms the party’s dominance in Anambra politics and highlights the governor’s solid grip on the political landscape. With a track record of economic reforms and infrastructural development, the coming months will test whether his accomplishments can translate into broad electoral support in November.
