Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo

In an outrageous turn of events today, an NTA correspondent covering the live broadcast of the budget presentation was arrested after defying a security directive to halt the stream. The incident unfolded when the Governor’s security aides, accompanied by his hype men, demanded that all media outlets shut down their coverage and surrender their cameras. But, in what can only be described as a last-ditch effort to maintain transparency, the NTA correspondent continued the live broadcast, which was later seized upon by PDP loyalists.

Truth Live News gathered that the Governor’s team, embarrassed by the broadcast, clearly failed to anticipate that the critical moments of his budget presentation—marking yet another slip-up—would air publicly, stirring chaos both in the chambers and across the state. While the correspondent has defended their actions, stating that once the broadcast went live, it couldn’t be cut off, the damage had already been done.

The missteps aired for the world to see have only reinforced the growing belief that Governor Okpebholo’s leadership is marked by constant gaffes and increasingly desperate measures to control the narrative. As more Governors across the nation express their concern over the incident, one can’t help but wonder: is this just another sign of the slippery slope that Okpebholo’s reign seems destined to continue down?

The powers that be may have hoped that arresting the journalist would quiet the noise, but with this latest debacle, his attempts at damage control are likely to cause even more backlash. One thing is certain—this is just another embarrassing chapter in a tenure plagued by poor decisions and a complete disregard for the people’s right to information.

Calls are being made for the immediate release of the NTA correspondent and for the people of Edo to demand better leadership, free from the embarrassment of constant blunders.

  1. Sorry, does fluency in English or numerals translate into better leadership? Thieves are known for flattery speeches and eloquence.

    • We cannot overemphasized the role of effective communication i governance. Perhaps he should delegate his written speeches. You may also tell him to use his native dialect next time.

    • No, fluency in English or numerals doesn’t translate into better leadership but the people of Edo State deserve a Chief Executive Officer that can provide good / great leadership and governance and that can also read, write, speak and communicate clearly in simplest , barest , and uncomplicated official manner. That’s not a lofty expectation or asking for too much or is it? Nevertheless, I wish the governor and the great people of Edo State great success!

    • Sorry my brother, His Excellency should have perfected his act before going public or decline live coverage.
The choice was he to take .l know he will deliver the dividence of democracy to Edo .
God bless Edo state and God bless his Excellency

    • A leader is expected to be articulate, knowledgeable, be able to express himself. It’s embarrassing when a leader can’t even pronounce the money he steals daily.
We all remember oga at d top, http://www.nscdc.that‘s all. It’s shameful and embarrassing bro

    • Hmmm. There is a level of expectation for certain levels in life. While this may not mean that he wouldn’t be able to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, his public confidence may be seriously decimated by his frequent slips and invariably albeit unavoidably affect his being in control of governance. You should know what that portends!

  2. It was a big shame on This country after watching the video yesterday. I feel sorry for my country. Arresting the journalist doing his job is another impunity of the highest order.

  3. Tell me, pls, if a leader – an occupier of an office as high as a state governor is not schooled enough to know when monetary values are in billions, how can he execute the very budget he was seeking the state House of Assembly to approve? This evil of pushing the least suitable to power with the aid of INEC, for selfish personal interests is why Nigeria is already a failed state.

  4. Like if he sees that amount of money he is struggling to call out in a big chana must go bag, you mean he won’t carry it and go and hide it

  5. Why will people always blame others for their own mistakes? I saw another video where they are saying the viral video is doctored by enemies of the government. You can see that video is purely a remedial one. Even there, he could not call the full figure.
