Pastor Osagie ize-lyamu, the 2020 gubernatorial flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially withdrawn from the Edo gubernatorial race.

In a letter addressed to the National Chairman of APC, Umar Ganduje, and copied to Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, Acting Chairman, Edo State APC, Pastor Osagie ize-lyamu cited extensive consultations with family, friends, and political associates as the basis for his decision.

Truth Live News gathered that Osagie ize-lyamu emphasized his commitment to democratic principles and praised the National Working Committee (NWC) for rectifying misconceptions surrounding the screening process.

Despite being cleared to contest, POI’s withdrawal is attributed to the imperative need for peace and unity within the party. Expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership for their fairness, Pastor ize-lyamu assured his support for any candidate emerging from the forthcoming primary election.

He extended appreciation to supporters and campaign organizers for their unwavering dedication. This news comes as a shock to many in Edo state because they expected him to be a frontline runner in the forthcoming off cycle election.
