Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court. This move comes in response to the recent judgment delivered by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT), which ruled against Obi and the LP’s petitions challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu.

The PEPT issued a unanimous judgment on September 6, 2023, in which they dismissed Obi and the LP’s petitions on the grounds of lacking merit. However, this decision did not sit well with the petitioners, leading them to file their appeal on September 19, 2023.

In their appeal, Obi and the LP argued that the PEPT made a legal error by dismissing their petitions without duly considering the weight of the evidence they had presented. As a result, they are urging the Supreme Court to overturn the PEPT’s judgment.

This development underscores the ongoing legal battle surrounding the presidential election results, with the LP and Peter Obi determined to pursue their case before the highest court.
