Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared that the minimum wage for civil servants in the state is now N85,000.

This announcement was made during an interview with Channels Television on Wednesday.

“I’m glad to let you know that the minimum wage for Lagos, which we have discussed with our union, is N85,000 today,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Sanwo-Olu’s declaration follows his earlier promise to implement the new minimum wage approved by the Federal Government. The governor had assured workers in the state that his administration would prioritize their welfare and implement the new minimum wage.

This move is expected to bring relief to civil servants in Lagos State, who have been grappling with the current economic hardship. Previously, Sanwo-Olu had rolled out relief measures, including reducing work days for civil servants and slashing transportation fares by 25%.

The governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare has been evident in his administration’s policies and initiatives. During the Workers’ Day celebration in May, Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s focus on prioritizing the welfare of workers and residents in the state.

With this new minimum wage, Lagos State civil servants can expect a significant improvement in their standard of living. The implementation of this policy is a testament to Sanwo-Olu’s dedication to putting the needs of his people first.
