Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar

The Supreme Court has rejected all new evidence provided by the PDP and LP Presidential candidate, Atiku and Obi challenging the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Supreme Court cited that the evidences were rejected because they had 180 days to provide such before hand which has already elapsed.

While the general rule discourages the introduction of additional evidence in the Supreme Court or any Court of Appeal, it’s not entirely prohibited. However, the criteria for admitting such evidence are stringent.

First, the evidence must be highly relevant to resolving the case’s issues.

Second, it must not have been obtainable through reasonable diligence during the trial at the lower court.

Therefore, for evidence to be admissible in the Supreme Court or any Court of Appeal, it must meet these two conditions at the very least.

In addition, the appeal regarding the CSU certificate has also been dismissed.
