President Bola Tinubu has appointed three new Directors-General to lead major federal agencies and has named a Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media, aiming to bolster the effectiveness and communication reach of key government sectors. The appointments reflect a commitment to enhancing leadership in sports, tourism, procurement, and public communications.
The newly appointed Directors-General include Mr. Olawale Olopade, who will head the National Sports Commission; Dr. Abisoye Fagade, Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism; and Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, now at the helm of the Bureau of Public Procurement. Additionally, Mr. Daniel Bwala has been appointed as the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications. According to a statement from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, these appointments are expected to bring experienced leaders into roles that align with their expertise and career backgrounds.
Mr. Olopade, a veteran sports administrator, previously served as Ogun State’s Commissioner of Youth and Sports and chaired the local organizing committee for the 2024 National Sports Festival. Dr. Fagade, a seasoned professional in marketing communications, is the founder and managing director of Sodium Brand Solutions, bringing a wealth of industry knowledge to the tourism sector. Dr. Adedokun, who will lead the Bureau of Public Procurement, previously served as the bureau’s Director of Research, Training, and Strategic Planning, giving him extensive experience within the organization. Mr. Bwala, the new Special Adviser, is a lawyer and well-known public affairs analyst.
President Tinubu has tasked these appointees with the responsibility to serve with dedication, integrity, and a spirit of excellence.
