The United Kingdom has prohibited Nigerian health workers and others from bringing their family members with them.
On Monday, the UK Home Office put out a statement about this.
The announcement mentioned that the new regulations aimed at reducing net migration and addressing visa misuse are now in effect, as part of the government’s strategy to decrease high levels of legal migration.
Last year, 120,000 family members came to the UK with 100,000 workers.
āCare providers in England acting as sponsors for migrants will also be required to register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) ā the industry regulator for Health and Social Care ā in order to crack down on worker exploitation and abuse within the sector.
āIt forms part of a wider package of measures, which is being implemented as soon as possible, which means a total of 300,000 people who were eligible to come to the UK last year would now not be able to do so.ā
