Port Harcourt, Rivers

In a recent shocking legal development, the resigned factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie, saw his suit against 25 lawmakers who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) struck out by a Rivers State High Court.

Truth Live News gathered that the charges were related to the lawmakers’ continued presence in the Assembly after their seats were declared vacant amid the political crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Surprisingly, Ehie, through his legal representatives, issued a notice of discontinuance on Thursday, leading to the judge promptly striking out the case. This legal maneuver aligns with a resolution pact brokered in Abuja by President Bola Tinubu.

It is noteworthy that Edison Ehie had previously resigned as a lawmaker and assumed the role of Chief of Staff to Governor Fubara. This development adds another layer to the intricate political dynamics in Rivers State.

The ongoing political saga has left supporters of both Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, in a state of anticipation, eagerly awaiting the conclusion of this complex legal and political episode. The twists and turns in the story have left observers in suspense, emphasizing the need for a resolution to bring closure to the turbulent situation.
