A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Daniel Bwala, has advised President Bola Tinubu to concentrate on nation-building rather than engaging in diplomatic trips merely for photo-ops.
This counsel comes in response to recent presidential announcements about Tinubu’s success in attracting investments from international organizations to Nigeria.
During an appearance on Arise Television’s program, the former Lawmaker expressed skepticism, pointing out that there have been no substantial improvements in the lives of Nigerians.
He emphasized that critical areas such as education, employment, and healthcare continue to face unresolved challenges.
Bwala stated, “It would have been positive news if, for instance, it were true. Unfortunately, it is not. Mark my words, in the next year, we will not witness any tangible investment outcomes from Dubai or India. These efforts appear to be more about photo opportunities and statements than concrete commitments with specifics and timelines.”
He stressed that for the country to progress and become attractive to investors, the President should prioritize domestic policies, security, and national interests.
“This is contained in your manifesto, you have abandoned that and you’re on a foreign trip to use photo ops as evidence of either legitimacy or evidence of prosperity. That cannot work,” he said.
