Calabar Carnival Mishap: Sandy Onor Visit Victims, Donates Money For Treatment

The leading Cross Rivers State Gubernatorial candidate, Professor Sandy Ojang Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday, visited and donated money for the treatment of the victims of the Calabar Carnival Bikers’ Parade tragedy at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), Calabar.

Truth Live News learned that the people’s choice, Senator Sandy who’s who summed up as a man of humility and maximum care for humanity was also reported to have stopped by the house of other victims at Bocobiri Community and offered his heartfelt sympathy and condemned the incident in totality saying, it could be avoidable.

“The incident is quite regrettable because as far as we are concerned it was avoidable. If proper processes were put in place as it is common with the Carnival practice; thereby, we think that would have been avoided.

“Be that as it may, we feel very sad that the incident which tragically happened led to loss of lives and serious injury. We had to the duty of going around to see them.” He said.

The senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District used the occasion to thank the management of UCTH for treating them without any monies made available for them.

“I want to use this opportunity to commend them for their professional practice. “As you witness we had to do the needful to make provision for them because we cannot exploit their generosity for too long.” Accordingly, we have provided some funds to absorb some of the expenditures that are being made in the process of treating them.

He noted that ensuring that there is security whenever we have a Carnival is our collective responsibility. Adding that we should all come out and ensure that there is security so that occurrences like that would not happen again.

According to him, “Our prayers are with them. We trust that they will heal very fast and the souls of those who have departed will find Mercy with God.
