Calas Vegas Band Wins 2023 Carnival Calabar

Calas Vegas carnival band has won the 2023 Carnival Calabar.

Created last year by the former Minister of Culture and Tourism, High Chief Edem Duke. Calas Vegas came tops for the first time since it’s formation beating 5 five other bands.

Other competing bands were Passion 4, Bayside, Masta Blasta, Diamond, and Freedom Bands.

The result was announced in the early hours of Friday, December 29th, 2023 at the main bowl of U J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar.

Passion 4 clinched 2nd position closely followed by Seagull Band with 3rd position.

“This is one of our campaign promises that we are definitely going to bring carnival back and on a bigger platform,” C’River Gov said.

Gov. Otu who stated this while flagging off the Carnival on Thursday said that what people have seen is the tip of the iceberg.

“Calabar carnival remains the biggest street party in the world,” he said while commending the sponsors for their support.

He congratulated the visitors for making it up to the Calabar carnival and told them that It was going to be a whole day, all-night event.

“This is going to be the beginning. I want to be very sure that all is ready,” Gov. Otu continued.

“If you look at the energy around this stuff, if you look at the current, you will know that everybody is ready to vibrate.”
