Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is reportedly preparing to announce his resignation as leader of the Liberal Party, potentially as early as today. This development follows mounting internal pressure and declining public support.

Truth Live News gathered that Trudeau’s anticipated resignation comes amid significant challenges, including a housing crisis, high inflation, and declining per-capita GDP. Recent polls indicate his approval rating has plummeted to record lows, with only 33% of Canadians approving of his performance.

The situation escalated in December when Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland resigned from the cabinet, citing irreconcilable differences over the country’s fiscal strategy. Her departure was seen as a significant blow to Trudeau’s leadership, as Freeland had been a close ally.

Adding to his challenges, New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh announced plans to introduce a formal motion of no-confidence later this month, arguing that Trudeau’s government had lost its mandate.

Trudeau’s personal conduct has also drawn criticism. In November, he faced backlash for attending a Taylor Swift concert in Toronto while a riot unfolded in Montreal, with critics accusing him of being out of touch with the country’s pressing issues.

If confirmed, Trudeau’s resignation would mark the end of a decade-long leadership of the Liberal Party and a transformative, though polarizing, era in Canadian politics. The Liberal Party would then be tasked with selecting a new leader to guide it through the upcoming national election scheduled for October.

As of now, no official announcement has been made, and the exact timing of Trudeau’s resignation remains uncertain.

The situation is developing, and further updates are anticipated in the coming days.
