Chelsea have hijacked Newcastle United’s deal to sign Tosin Adarabioyo, with the Blues reaching the final stages of negotiation.

The Nigerian-born defender is set to leave Fulham this summer after declining a contract extension.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is close to securing Adarabioyo’s signature, making him the first signing of the Enzo Maresca era.

The 26-year-old will fill the gap left by Thiago Silva, who rejoined his boyhood club Fluminense last month.

Adarabioyo has been a consistent performer for Fulham since his arrival from Manchester City in 2020.

His addition to Chelsea’s squad, Truth Live News reports, will bolster their defense, with the Blues eager to capitalize on his talent.

The signing will also signal the end of Trevoh Chalobah’s Chelsea career, with the club considering offers for the academy graduate.
