The top contender for the Edo state gubernatorial election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Asue Ighodalo had declared that the Party’s National Vice Chairman, South-South, Chief Dan Osi Orbih is currently not supporting his aspiration but he’s sure that they will all come to the same alignment soon.
Dr. Ighodalo made this known on Monday while on live interview with Channels Television duly monitored by Truth Live News, on their breakfast programme, sunrise daily.
Asue Ighodalo said , “Chief Orbih and I are speaking and he’s a great friend. we are speaking he’s not supporting me as we speak, but we talk always and the end of the day we will come to the same alignment”
Dan Orbih is the leader of the legacy group within the PDP opposition within the party in Edo state.
But Other aspirants in the legacy group in the PDP, in their opinion, they stepped down for the present governor and believe that a good turn deserves another shot by ensuring they have the offer of first refusal before any other member of the party aspire to be governor.
Ighodalo asserted that once they both have the interests of the Edo people and the interest of the PDP as paramount, the rest would be easily resolved.
He said he is overwhelmed by the support across divide, noting that his campaign team is made up of brilliant, young guys and ladies.
He opined that leadership is about love for the people, transparency and people being able to bank on you doing as you say .
“Among the major aspirants
I can point to four or five that are also the governors friends so I don’t know where the tag of favorite is coming from. “ Making him the proverbial Joseph with a coat of many colors.
Many in Edo state have their fingers crossed waiting to see a possible merger of interests between the Asue Ighodalo camp and the Dan Orbih camp, but it is interesting to state at this juncture that a good number of party faithful formerly loyal to the legacy PDP are now aligning with Dr Asue Ighodalo.
Notable among these names is the former Edo state speaker, Rt. Hon Friday Itulah, Rt. Hon Chief Joe Ediowele, Senator Odion Ugbesia and many more.
