The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has declared 2025 as the year to eradicate banditry, terrorism, and other security challenges in Nigeria.

While addressing troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) in Plateau State’s Mangu Local Government Area, General Musa acknowledged the military’s significant efforts in securing the nation’s territorial integrity.

However, he stressed the need for increased commitment to completely eliminate these threats.

“You have done well, but more is expected this year to ensure we put behind us anything known as banditry or terrorism,” Musa stated.

During his visit on Saturday, General Musa expressed appreciation for the troops’ conduct and their role in maintaining national security.

He reiterated that his presence aimed to boost their morale and assure them of the government’s unwavering support and keen observation of their progress.

The CDS inspected arms and ammunition recovered by the troops and reviewed a guard of honor mounted for him.

He also participated in a combat-readiness exercise alongside Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and OPSH Commander, and other troops.

Earlier, General Musa had undertaken a similar exercise in Kaduna State before proceeding to Plateau State.

This visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the fight against insurgencies and ensure a peaceful and secure Nigeria by the end of 2025.
