The Egbe -Mbube, Council of Traditional Rulers in Ogoja LGA, have conferred chieftaincy title on the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt Hon. Dr Peter Odey.
The highest honourary chieftaincy title christened the “Likeuel é’mpam I’ meaning , the ‘Pillar of Egbe’ community,
Conferring the chieftaincy title, the Clan Head of Egbe-Mbube, HRH Buturo Thomas Akung, said the title recognizes his steadfast dedication.
Which is to the advancement and progress of not only Mbube nation but also the state and nation.
He said the title was a reflection of the positive impact his immense contributions have made towards the development of the community and Mbube nation.
However, he reassured the Deputy Governor of Egbe people’s support for the current administration.
While he described Governor Otu as true embodiment of ‘People First’ approach, he praised him of being a capable leader.
The conferment held alongside the Egbe Day Celebration, an annual event dedicated to celebrate the values of community development.
Meanwhile, the Head of Personnel Staff, Dr. Chris Ojikpong, represented the Deputy Governor .
While expressing gratitude to the Egbe Community, Traditional Rulers for the honour and recognition, he emphasized significance of the title to him.
He also assured the people of his commitment to community development.
Moreover, he extended congratulations to the good people of Egbe-Mbube community for the successful 2024 Egbe Day Celebration.
He urged them to continue their support for the administration of Governor Otu to fully realize the ‘People First’ Agenda.
Dr Odey praised the efforts of the Egbe-Mbube community in undertaking self-sustaining development projects.
Furthermore , he hailed the initiative as valuable and encouraged them to persist in launching and completing projects that offer economic advantages and benefit everyone.
