The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh, has sued for cooperation from the vendors ahead of this year’s Christmas celebration in the state.

He made the plea on Tuesday when he held a successful meeting with vendors at Ibom Christmas Park.

While giving out a set of rules and regulations which all vendors are expected to abide, he said the purpose of the meeting was to intimate the vendors on new developments in this year’s Christmas celebration.

Sir Udoh said this year’s event tagged #ChristmasUnplugged will run from December 1, 2023 to January 1, 2024, with an aim to promote businesses, entertainment, and homegrown talents.

According to him, organization of the Christmas park and strategies would enhance the smooth running of businesses at the park.

“The importance of leveraging tourism for economic growth and cultural preservation cannot be overemphasized,” Commissioner Udoh said.

In their response, the vendors promised to provide unique experiences for visitors adding that they will contribute to the development of the tourism sector in their respective capacities.

“We are willing to collaborate and support the event,” they said the meeting between them and the commissioner at Ibom Christmas Park was a step towards fostering a strong partnership in the tourism industry.”
