A classroom building at the Government Girls Science and Technical College in Potiskum, Yobe State, collapsed during class hours, resulting in the death of one female student and injuring several others.
The incident occurred when the structure suddenly caved in, trapping many students under the rubble.
Rescue efforts were swift, with the affected students rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Potiskum for treatment.
The Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Professor Abba Idris Adam, and the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Science and Technical Education Board, Dr. Dauda Atiyaye, visited the scene and the hospital to assess the situation.
Although the exact cause of the collapse remains unclear, reports indicate that the roof gave way, striking a female student standing under the veranda, resulting in her death.
The incident occurred approximately 100 kilometers from Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
