The Cross River State Governmment has concluded plans to partner the National Council on Climate Change (NCC) to generate Carbon Credit for national and international market.
Dr Prince Michael Nku Abuo,JP, Coordinator/Focal Person for the Cross River State Government Carbon Credit/Climate Change Project/Initiative announced the plans.
Dr Abuo in a meeting with the Director General of the National Council on Climate Change (NCC) Dr Salisu Dahiru, highlighted potential benefits and contributions of the said initiative in Abuja.
Certainly, it outlines the contributions of the state to the fight against global warming via her Carbon Credit/Climate Change Project/Initiative.
“Under the leadership of Cross River State Governor Sen Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the project will create thousand of jobs and increase the state earnings,” Abuo said.
Nevertheless, he added that “the initiative will help to conserve the state forest resource.”
Meanwhile, Dr Dahiru, Co-Chairman of the Nigeria Carbon Credit Market Activation Plan/Intergovernmental Committee and Mr Michael Ivenso, Director Energy, Transport and Infrastructure welcomed the partnership.
Recall that in August 2023, Governor Otu gave approval for the execution/launch of the Carbon Credit Project in the state.
