The Congolese government has debunked rumours of an attempted coup against President Denis Sassou-Nguesso.
This was disclosed by the country’s minister of information, Thierry Moungalla, in a post via his X handle on Sunday evening.
In his post which was written in French the country’s lingual Franca, Moungalla wrote: URGENT- “Des informations fantaisistes évoquent des événements graves qui seraient en cours à #Brazzaville. Le Gouvernement dément ces fake news. Nous rassurons l’opinion sur le calme qui règne et invitons les populations à vaquer sereinement à leurs activités.”
This is translated as: “URGENT – fanciful information suggests serious events that are underway at #Brazaville. The government denies this fake news. we reassure public opinion about the calm that reigns and invite people to calmly go about their duties. #ComGouvCg”
