The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Friday dismissed a move the family of the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha to hinder the Federal Government from reopening criminal forfeiture suit.
Truth Live New reports that the current administration in the last few years have retrieved millions of dollars of the country’s fund looted and stashed in foreign countries by the deceased general.
The current move by the government is targeted at family members for being alleged accomplices in looting the nation’s treasury during Abacha’s government.
The court affirmed the initial judgments of the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal in which it okayed the power of the Federal Government to reopen criminal forfeiture proceedings against the family.
The case was dismised by the presiding judge, Justice Emmanuel Agim for want of merit and substance.
